No Class Next Week

I wanted to let you all know that I won't be having class at ADA next week (Dec. 26-31.) I will be teaching at the South Jordan Rec Center Thursday at 5:45am and Friday at noon if you're interested.

I'll be back at ADA on Monday, January 2!

Holiday Schedule

Here is the Zumba schedule for the next week.

Monday 11/21: No Class (I'll be out of town)

Wednesday 11/23: Class at 8:30pm @ ADA

Thursday 11/24: No Class (Thanksgiving)

Friday 11/25: Class at 12:00pm at the South Jordan Rec. Center

Saturday 11/26: No Class

If you were hoping to come to class on Saturday the 26th, consider coming to the class at the South Jordan Rec Center on Friday at noon. It is a 45 minute class, and costs $5.

As for Saturday classes in December, I want to keep them going. So, come and bring your friends! However, we will not have class on the 24th or the 31st of December.

Party in Pink (TM) Zumbathon!

I am co-hosting a "Party in Pink" Zumbathon with Tesha Ceislak on Wednesday Oct. 5 at ADA. Tickets are $7 each and all of the profits will go to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. Come support this worthy cause during Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

I need your opinion!

Is 9pm too late to start a Zumba class? The Studio which I'm at is starting classes up again soon and they have a class Monday night that goes until 9pm - so we wouldn't be able to start until then...which means we wouldn't be done until 10pm. There may be an opportunity to have a Monday class at our regular time at another studio nearby. Which would you prefer, a different location (still in Riverton) or the 9pm time? I'll need to make a decision soon about that class, and so I wanted to be able to take into consideration how you feel about it. Please let me know!

Summer Class Cancellations

I wanted to post the dates that class will be cancelled this summer.

Our scheduled classes are Mondays and Wednesdays at 8:30pm and Saturdays at 8:00am.

We will not have class the following dates:

Reminders/Changes

I wanted to let everyone know that we ARE having class at Axis this Saturday at 7:30am. My weekend plans got cancelled, so I'll be there!

Reminder:

Today is the last day to trade your Axis punch card for one of my punch cards. I'll be teaching tonight at Axis at 8:30, so come to class and we can switch them out. If you can't make it to class, please contact me today and we'll arrange a time to meet up.

Axis Dance Center will be going out of business in the middle of June. I am currently looking to a place to move my classes to. I will keep you updated on what my plans are. If you have one of my punch cards, you can follow me to my new place and use them there.

We will have class in the far back studio and you can just come straight back to me and I'll take your payment or punch your card.

Change in Punch Cards

For those of you who have punch cards at Axis: I am changing things around just a bit with the studio. I will be having my own punch cards for Zumba. If you want to keep your Axis card for belly dancing, pilates, etc., then you will need to get a different punch card from me as well for Zumba.

If you are only using your Axis punch card for Zumba, there will be no real change for you. I will just swap out your Axis card with one of mine and mark off the same number of classes used. The change will start next week. From then on, you'll pay for Zumba directly to me, not the studio. Let me know if you have questions.

Party Hearty Success!

I want to send out a huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to the Zumbathon last Friday. It was a great success - we had a packed room! We raised over $200 for the American Heart Association and burned some MAJOR calories while doing it! (1075 to be exact!) Gotta LOVE Zumba!!

FYI: Axis Dance Center will be closed for Spring Break. So, classes are cancelled Thursday (4/21), Saturday (4/23) and Monday (4/25). They open back up Tuesday, 4/26.

Girls' Night Out Party Hearty Zumbathon!

THE CAUSE:
Party Hearty is a Zumbathon Charity Event supporting The American Heart Association's "Go Red Por Tu Corazón." (Go Red For Your Heart) This movement celebrates the energy, passion and power we have as women to band together to wipe out heart disease, the No. 1 cause of death for women.

Thanks to the participation of millions of people across the country, the color red and the red dress now stand for the ability all women have to improve their heart health and live stronger, longer lives and be there for their families.

To support this cause, 75% of each ticket fee to be donated to Go Red Por Tu Corazón for a minimum donation by Zumba Fitness of $100,000. Also, 30% of the sale price of limited-edition Party Hearty Zumbawear™ products will be donated to the movement.

THE PLAN:
Cost: $10 cash or check at the door and includes a free gift!
Registration will be from 6:30-7:30pm.
A Basic Steps Review will be from 7-7:30pm, so come early if you're new to Zumba! We'll go over the basic steps which will make the class even easier to follow.
The Zumbathon will start at 7:30 and will go until 9:00pm.

I'm excited to announce a new class! I'll be teaching Saturday mornings at 7:30am at Axis Dance Center. So, set your alarm clocks and get your weekend off to a great start! We'll start this Saturday, March 26.

Basic Steps Review

I will be at Axis every Monday night 20 minutes before the 8:30pm class to go over basic steps at no extra charge. We will break down a lot of the steps we do, slowly and without music. It helps a lot during the actual class. Being more comfortable with the moves allows you to have more fun in class and helps you to just feel the music and dance.

So, feel free to come to Axis at 8:10pm on Mondays if you are new, need a refresher, or have specific questions about a certain move. I'll see you there!

I've had a lot of people asking if we're having class tonight, and the answer is YES! I understand the need to Zumba as often as possible. I wouldn't take a class away from my peeps!

So, Zumba is at Axis and starts at 8:30pm. See you then!

More Classes!

I have started teaching at another dance studio as well: Extravadance. It's a great studio and is located in West Jordan: 8524 S. Welby Farm Rd. ( 4300 W.)

I teach there Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 8:00pm.

Directions:

From 9000 S. go north on 4000 W., turn left (west) on Welby Farm Rd. - you'll see a sign for Extravadance on the corner. Follow the road for about 1/4 mile and you'll see Extravadance all lit up on the right.

Pricing:

$30/month of unlimited classes - They have Zumba every night Mon.-Thurs. at 8pm.

I took Zumba a lot at this studio before I started teaching my own classes, so everyone there feels like family! Jamie and Lindsay are the other Zumba Instructors and they are so fun.

Schedule Update!

Are you like me? Do you avoid going out on Valentine's Day at all costs? We usually babysit everyone else's kids so they can go out. We're always so glad we did when they come back and tell us how they fought traffic, waited 3 hours for dinner, missed their movie, etc!

Well, if you are like me, then come to Zumba Monday night! I'll be at Axis at 8:30pm ready to jam. I hope to see you there!

As an update to my class schedule: we're postponing morning classes (Tues. & Thurs. 9am) at Axis until we get some interest in them. So, let me know if you're interested in attending at that time. If we can get at least 3 people, we'll start them up.

The same goes for Zumbatomic. D-track kids had a total blast and were so disappointed when they had to go back to school! If any C-Track kids are interested in coming, let me know and we'll get a class going!

New Classes!

I am so excited to announce that I have found an incredible place to teach Zumba and Zumbatomic!

AXIS DANCE CENTER is located at 3658 West 9800 S. in the shopping center adjacent to the Walmart neighborhood market. It has 3 large dance studios with beautiful floors, wall-to-wall mirrors and a thumpin' sound system. It has many dance classes for dancers of every age. It offers options for everyone: a Drop-in Day Care so those with little ones can workout during the day, a great Off-Track Program set up to keep kids active while they are out of school, and plenty of evening classes for people who can't make it during the day. It is EXACTLY the type of place I was looking for!

Look to the sidebar to see a current class schedule. Please let me know if there is ever a class time that you would be interested in having. If there is demand, there will be a class!

My classes start next Monday, January 31. The drop-in rate is $6.50 per class. Or, you can buy a 10 class punch card for $50.

The drop-in Day Care is for children 6 months to 12 years and the rate is $5 per child per hour. She has discounted rates and promotions if you have more than one child, or sign up for a 6 month contract. Contact the studio for more information 801-910-4823.

Certifications Complete!

January has been a busy month! I attended a Zumba workshop January 7 and became certified to teach ZumbAtomic - which is Zumba for kids ages 4-12. They have the program divided into two age groups: 4-7 years old are "Little Stars" and 8-12 years old are "Big Stars." It is age appropriate with all of the fun of Zumba. I am so excited to get some classes going!

Yesterday, I attended an AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America) Workshop and completed the testing for my Primary Group Fitness Certification. It was a pretty big deal! So, I am now certified to teach in Gyms and Rec Centers.

I've been so excited to get my own class up and running. I'm looking into several locations and hopefully will be able to announce some class dates and times soon.
